Nowadays at least 56% of the environment have been destroyed by people, factories, and etc. Many beautiful landmarks and environments are also destroyed. This embroidery painting that I decided to make represents the environment that us beautiful and healthy. The flowers are blooming and showing off their vivid colors. I also put the girl in the painting representing that girls and flowers and the environment are similar to each other. A girl who is taken care with good care and is in a good environment would be pretty, just like flowers and the environment. If the flowers and environment is taken care with good care then it would make them pretty as well. Each flower also has a meaning such as daffodil. Daffodil represents rebirth and new beginning. Which in my opinion it is telling us that taking care and helping the environment is not too late, we can start over again. Next is chrysanthemum which represents happiness and well-being. This one would mean to me that if we start helping each other take care of the environment, we can all stay happy and we would have a better life. Lastly, rose represents admiration and passion. I think that if we make the world have a better environment, it would make the environment beautiful and everyone could admire the beauty of the nature more than before. And I have high hopes that people would start helping the environment.

As the theme of this art piece is “Peace”, I chose to focus on the category of “Equality”. My topic in the category of “Equality” is specified in “Gender” or rather “Gender Sexuality”. The right side of this piece represents the expectation and what is considered normal for the majority of society. The colours on this side are dull and gloomy especially the eyes and hair which indicates how too many people pushed their ‘colour’ or their expectations on them which all of them mixed and ended up in the colour black. There are chains in the background that prevent the person from representing themselves as they truly are. This is shown through items such as lipsticks and eyeshadow behind the chains. On the other hand, the left side represents the person where there is both freedom and acceptance of others. Compared to the right side, the use of colours are bright and chains have been cut off and there are items that connect with the other items in the right hand side indicating that they haven’t changed, it’s the people around them. A red rose means love indicating there is love and acceptance from other people as well as themselves. The items in the background is an indication that with just a small change and acceptance in the environment they are in, can make them smile so brightly. The white hair is like a canvas where no one has pushed their ‘colours’ onto, it’s a colour to show that they are themselves. The colour white also connects to a dove and the colour blue for the eyes both symbolises peace, the theme of this piece. From just accepting the things we like, we can see the world more lively and colourful. I want this piece to show that by breaking gender stereotypical ‘normal’ a person can… we all can see the world with a wider perspective. We all should have hope, a chance to be who we want to be. That is my interpretation of “Peace”.

- The olive branch the entire piece is written on is a common symbol for peace itself. - Every countries flag represents global unity and globalization, and the development of international relationships. - The multi-coloured stalk represents cultural/ethnical diversity and global interconnectedness. It also represents the exchange of cultures and information across continents (like internet cables). - The arrows at the top represent progression and moving forward. The key idea I wanted to convey with my piece is of the fact that the development of international relations would result in the progression of humanity as a whole. A leaf keeps maturing and growing over the course of the plant's entire life. But every part of the leaf is necessary for its survival. This parallels the nature of humanity. Every country and continent is important in global progression, and each country, culture, ethnicity, so on and so on has their own value in the world - these values are what are most important in order to truly achieve global peace and unity.

My painting is loosely based around the idea of the wealth/ resource inequality and how often the a small percent or even the 1 % own way more than they 1. could use (oversized piece of cake) and 2. than anyone else who may need it more. I tried to display this by having 5 plates with different portions of dessert (specifically cake). i already submitted it by email but i'm doing it twice to be safe

For this peace I chose the medium of digital collage for the reason that it allowed me to have as much freedom and color expression as the topic demands. When it comes to the history of genderqueerness, I believe that representation in art plays a crucial and even a life-saving role. This is why I intentionally referenced a number of powerful historical queer symbols such as the pink triangle as well as prominent musicians and artists that deeply inspire me: Arca, Sophie, Adam Benedict, and many others. I think the main message I strived to translate through this piece is that tolerance is not the great goal, when love is on the table.

People's actions shape the world, for better or for worse, swayed by the knowledge each of us have, learned through technology, books, and life experiences. Our planet is a delicate balance of various ecological systems working together, none of which expected humans to settle almost everywhere. This makes us crucial in keeping the planet up and running, or else we won't have any place to live safely within a few generations. Hopefully, our knowledge is enough to stop any more damage from occurring.
