Here’s your February monthly submission for the traditional art department:
MODERNISING OLD PAINTINGS:
Traditional arts have histories. Thus, most famous pieces of traditional art are made hundreds of years ago, for example, Mona Lisa (1503), The Starry Night (1889), The Birth of Venus (1486), and Girl with a Pearl Earring (1665). They have beauty in their own ways but they could seem… outdated nowadays. As years have passed, beauty standards have changed. Religions, beliefs, and cultures may have changed as well. The general change in architecture, textiles and fashions have influenced many modern artists to try and ‘modernise’ historic well-known paintings. Celebrating classical art with a ‘twist’. Think about and brainstorm, what would the art look like if it was painted by an artist today? How would they differ and why?
Take a famous painting or sculpture and modernise them!
Keep creating!
