Hey everyone.
As noted last month, we have organized to post the work for October and November a bit earlier so you can get a head start if you would like to do so.
Assignment for all members: create an illustration that is inspired by your choice of movie/TV show. Once your concept is complete, write an explanation including the following points...
- Why did you choose the colour(s), pattern(s) etc. and how do they relate to the movie/TV show you chose?
- What was your overall intention in creating your illustration? Discuss the emotions, thoughts, and questions you want the audience to feel/have/ask after seeing your piece.
- Do you have a target audience, and how did your choice of colour/pattern/texture/media etc. work to target this audience? For example: youth enjoy bright colors and simple patterns so you created these and targeted a youthful audience.
As this is the first time I have introduced a proper analysis, I have added a couple of resources below to give you some better understanding. In the coming week, I will be releasing some tutorials and information on how to write an analysis for a piece of artwork, including mark schemes for those of you wanting to create an art portfolio that will be submitted.
This is a basic guide for evaluating artwork in general. You can take aspects of this and use it in your own evaluation. Please note: this is designed for students who are evaluating a historical piece of artwork (not their own) so you do not need to write about historical context.

This is an example of a basic essay written about an entire portfolio. You do not need to write one this long, feel free to have a read through to see how other students evaluate their artwork.
This assignment is designed to start adding an evaluative aspect to your art portfolio. Due December the 1st.
Any issues at all, just let me know!
