Hello, WARNING IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE DRAWING THERE IS BLOOD
So I DEFINITELY misunderstood what Ayane meant when she said self-portrait (yeah my brain wasn't exactly working well I think) so my profile is entirely abstract, but it represents me(?)
I did this on my iPad in Procreate and I obviously still need to work on a LOT of skills, especially with shading skin... Blending I got figured out somewhat, but I'm still struggling quite a bit with picking the right colors for my skin tone (and blood, but that was a bit icky to search up for references). Honestly, I don't think I will be drawing a raw heart in the near future, but I definitely need to work on making it semi-real like the hand/arm, or making the hand/arm in watercolor texture.
Overall, I'm a bit sad it turned out quite a bit worse from the sketching, but then again, I've never drawn raw flesh before so I guess it balances out?
Hi Yayoi,
Haha, no problem misunderstanding what I meant- different interpretations are what makes art so interesting (sorry if you're annoyed by my artsy comment 🤓). Your artwork looks absolutely amazing!
I wonder how your artwork represents who you are- could you explain it a bit further?
As a self-proclaimed watercolor artist, I think the keys to make your paintings more realistic are layering tons of colors and looking at the actual thing rather than photographs. I'm pretty sure it's difficult to sketch a raw heart from the actual thing unless you're psychopathic enough to pluck one from somebody though!
I never tried digital drawing so I have no idea how it works, but my quick googling found a website with several tips for making your art more realistic- https://design.tutsplus.com/articles/6-easy-tips-for-making-realistic-digital-paintings--cms-23665
Hope it helps!
