Hi Everyone!
I apologise for my late submission, I was preparing for my upcoming English examination. Anyway, here are my submissions:
Traditional art department:
For this month's assignment, I didn't follow the theme, and ended up working on a sunset painting. I initially started working on this piece a couple of months ago, and gave-up, because painting with oil paints was genuinely difficult! Here is a bit more information about the painting, an the output:
I mentioned this before, but I really enjoy the presence of nature. One thing I often comes to my mind when I think of nature, is a sunrise. In fact, I get to see a sunrise everyday from my window, and it is very pleasant. So, I finally decided to paint it, with the help of a tutorial, and I painted for around 5 hours! The longest I ever painted haha 😅.
The strokes are probably a little messy, but it is my first time painting with oil colours and a canvas. I am genuinely very happy with the output, and I would love to receive some feedback or any tips on how to improve my painting.
Digital art department:
Since the theme for this month was to experiment with two different colours from the colour palette, I decided to use the shades 'Peach' and 'Royal Blue'.
I don't exactly know if I met the requirements of the assignment, but I tried to implement it as much as I can. I used different hues of these two shades, and filled in a quick sketch. I would love to know your opinion on this drawing, and probably some tips on how I can improve my drawings too!
Thank you, and apologies for the late submission again! Kind Regards, Mahathi Penumajji
Hi Muhathi!
Wow, your artwork looks gorgeous, and I love the colours! I love the gradient of the ocean, and the sunset with the soft clouds seems pretty natural. The multi-coloured sky is one of my favourite thing from that painting as it looks so pretty and gives a warm feel, contrasting the cool ocean. I think that the highlights for the sea can be a bit wavier and blended out a little more so that it doesn't become the highlight of the painting, which you might want the sunset to be.
For your digital artwork, I love how you made the lips look glossy and included Royal Blue in her eyes. I can see that you put in a little bit of highlight and shading on the nose, but personally, I think it can be done a bit more clearly to give her face a little more shape, not to look 2D. The one dark blue strand of her hair looks a bit artificial, so I think you could use a different brush on the app to make it look flowier to look more realistic. I love the eyeshadow on her eyelids, it looks incredible, and I appreciate the two-toned hair colour!
p.s. no problem about the late submissions; it was great to see your lovely artwork!
