This month I drew a person holding planets above their head to show the weight of the world. This connects to surrealism because it is unrealistic, like a dream, and uses symbolism. The planets represent pressure, and the image is strange because humans obviously cannot hold space.

Hi everyone!
As it's now April, it's time to move onto our next themes. These pieces will be due at the end of May now that we're properly into the school year.
Just a gentle reminder to anyone who hasn't submitted for February/March to send their pieces in within the next week.
Happy creating!
Emily :D

This is my first charcoal drawing (charcoal sticks on canvas), based on a TV show character! Please give any feedback on how I can improve 💙. (Also, does anyone have advice on how to seal/protect a charcoal drawing?)

Sketched this Hare out of Charcoal Pencils, lots of erasing and adding. 🫣
Please tell me your ideas on what I can improve on!
This is beautiful, Sophia! I honestly don't think I can see anything you'd be able to improve on, except that perhaps the head is slightly too big for the body---although I do also love how that emphasises the face. The expression in the eye is stunning :)

hi everyone. here is an acrylic painting i recently finish of a whale for the monthly theme. 💗💗

I love this! The contrast in size between the whale and the swimmer is so clever; it really highlights the awe of the moment. Personally, I would add a little more to the bubbles and perhaps less even distribution of light, but either way this is AMAZING :)

Hello everyone! (Again.)
I was wondering about how many members of the club have art pieces that they made before joining CGA or before joining our space, and I was thinking you guys might like to share some of them.
If you have any particular favourites that you haven't had the chance to submit, you can add them in your response to this form:
https://forms.gle/kzoPSY1AMSPyLYSc9
I've also included a question so I know where you're okay with your pieces being shared - as hopefully some of these might get to go in assemblies or features!

This was my piece for the Van Gogh theme :) Sorry it was a pretty quick one (~1 hour) and an experiment with my acrylic markers so it's no where near perfect, but I was attempting a mix of surrealism and Van Gogh's impressionism ! Unfortunately with this visible brushwork style you can't really mix colours of paint pens, but I've tried my best :')

This is beautiful Shaoey! I honestly thought you'd uploaded one of Van Gogh's own paintings :) I particularly love how the swirls form an eye in the middle. It's cool that you experimented with a new medium as well!

Hi everyone! The Greenwich Neurodiversity Allies Club has approached us and is asking if we'd like to join in with their art competition. The theme is, 'How do you see the world?'
This competition is in honour of Neurodiversity Celebration Week (March 16 - March 22) and is across both the Aoraki and Greenwich campuses. It will be an opportunity for house points and to showcase your art amongst others from Rutherford, Sheppard, Malala, and Hawking.
I will also accept any submissions for the competition as your monthly submission for April :)
Happy creating! Emily

I can't seem to scan the QR Code, it brings me to a QR Code Website. Any help would be appreciated.
Heated Rivalry! I love this drawing; it's got an amazing use of perspective. I can't help you with the charcoal sealing though!
