Hey guys,
Here is my November submission. This picture is a rainy day in a city and everyone has their umbrellas. Honestly, this piece has a much deeper meaning to me. I recently moved to Turkey from America two months ago. I had lived in the same house in America for 13 yrs and always lived away from the city. Coming to Turkey I was a bit close-minded about living in the bustling streets of a city. I soon realized that if you do not experience different places/countries you can never know if you like something better. So, that is my story for this piece of art and I hope you guys like it!
I used graphite pencils for this piece and I believe this was just my 3rd time doing it. I am pretty proud of myself on this piece since I am new to using graphite pencils. If you have any comments on how to make my artwork better you can message me here or on Slack #NoorSyed
Wow! I'm no art expert or anything, but here are my comments!
Firstly, I can totally relate to what you said about being sceptical about change, especially when it's about as big as moving countries as I moved from Thailand - where I also spent nearly five years living - to Japan this year as well. Even though I'm Japanese, I had only lived here for a few years when I was young, so I had a very closed mindset of what it was like, even though I've never truly experienced it myself. (I'm also planning to draw something about moving to Japan, as it was the most significant change in my life this year)
Secondly, I love the one-point perspective approach you took with this drawing; personally I think it suits the drawing very well. I specifically like how you made it seem like a light ray or the sun was shimmering everything from the centre back of the drawing(apologies if I interpreted it wrong). I also really like how you did the water reflection since it really emphasises the fact that it's raining in the drawing. :)
