- Monthly Themes (T&D)Hey everyone! It's April now which means new monthly themes! Make art based on one or all of themes and post your work on this website or in the teams channel :) Reminder: for your required monthly submission you do not have to submit artwork based on a monthly theme - you can submit any artwork you made during that month - but it is highly recommended you give the themes a go as they can help push you out of your comfort zone, hone your artistic skills and inspire you to create! 1. Backgrounds and Environments • Drawing backgrounds and environment can be a chore or challenging for many artists so one of the themes for this month is to make an artwork where you focus on the background or environment, working on your composition, perspective, and lighting abilities. • Here's an article with 4 easy tips for painting backgrounds that I recommend: https://etchrlab.com/blogs/news/4-tips-in-painting-backgrounds?srsltid=AfmBOorypnbsc5dMEkzgaTqImaQc_CQFQ_8zHaNf5QeNCuVijQwFeNFF • This video is a beginners guide to composition and I recommend you give it a watch (its only 7 minutes long) : https://youtu.be/OE9ZXM1_FgM?feature=shared 2. The Next World - Interpretations of the Afterlife • Across cultures, ideologies, and religions there are many different interpretations of what happens after we pass away. You might believe in a kind of heaven or that we still roam the earth as ghosts or that there is nothing at all. For this theme, create artwork based on a perception of the afterlife - it can be based on what you believe or on an interpretation that differs from yours (just make sure to be respectful) • Here is a blog post briefly listing what different religions believe about the afterlife which can be used as a springboard for further research : https://www.ulc.org/ulc-blog/different-religions-views-on-the-afterlife?srsltid=AfmBOortu1Y2nP0NoeajmkvWdKM8vtroORwkn20R0MZ3jG61MRcresaA • (I chose this theme after binge-watching the good place while I was sick for a week ) 3. Metallics and Minerals • Make art which feature or is inspired by metal and minerals! • Examples: Iron, Gold, Silver, Copper, Quartz, and my favourite Cobalt The deadline for monthly submissions (does not need to be on theme) is the end of this month Have fun everyone!!
