Hi fellow artists:
For March monthly submission, we have 3 options:
REVIEW: EXPERIMENT WITH AN ART MATERIAL
Try and create a piece with art tools you either have never used before, or dislike. Experiment with the tool, and write a short review on the tool.
A list of things you may use are:
Oil painting
Gauche painting
Watercolor painting
Watercolor pencils
Markers
Crayons
Graphite
Oil pastel
Chalk
Charcoal
Ink
Of course, you can choose any other materials of your choice!
SKILL: SHADOWING/LIGHTING
Develop your skill in shadowing/lighting. If you are an abstract artist, this may not apply to you. The contrast of light and dark always is helpful to emphasize the drawing and to make them stand out more. Without a good understanding of shadowing, your piece may look a bit off and unbalanced. However, I believe that by mastering the use of shadowing and lighting, your pieces will be able to attract viewers’ eyes more. I have some resources for you to start working on this, however, you are more than welcome to find your own source and get to work then. For comparison, create an identical piece, one before you learned about the skill, and one after you feel comfortable with it.

THEME: NATURAL DISASTERS
We all know what is happening in Turkey, Syria, and the surrounding area with the earthquake. Many have died, many buildings were destroyed, and many lost their homes/families. Think about natural disasters and their uncontrollableness. How are these disasters affecting people and the environment? Are they good? Are they bad? You can come up with your own explanation as to how these disasters are occurring (as ancient people did in the old days. They believed that it was their god(s) who were angry and were causing the damage) I want you to express your feelings and opinions towards natural disasters through art.
Remember, you do not have to stick with the theme given by the leaders. You can always submit pieces that you created, and it could even be a scribble on the side of your notebook!
Good luck.
Keep creating!
